Mechanism of Action
DHEA and its sulfate form (DHEAS):

DHEA 25 mg contains dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), an endogenous steroid hormone precursor involved in the synthesis of androgens and estrogens. Although widely used as a supplement, strong long-term clinical evidence supporting its therapeutic use remains limited.

Dosage varies depending on indication:
- Adrenal insufficiency: 50 mg/day (replacement dose); up to 200 mg/day (pharmacologic dose)
- Anorexia nervosa: 100 mg/day for 6 months
